@TomPlayford3 No It doesn't mean that all ! SA has 3.4 GW of gas generation now ,more than enough to meet demand . On top of that you have another 1 GW of storage which will double next year .

Closing a loophole like this is common sense . I have no problem with you maximising their returns , but those on incomes under $100 k should not have to subsidise them !

~45% of US corn production is now used to make ethanol, mostly for mixing into gasoline. That's ~13% of all US crop land already used for energy production. Using some of the same land for solar panels would capture 50-100 times more energy per acre.

@jm493_au @KamilBalcerzyk If they see storage being exhausted in a few hours, they will forecast very high prices for that time, which will encourage storage to save energy for those high prices. This will in turn increase the present price which will encourage gas to enter the market.

#Nuclear power is gone from Australia. With 2031 Coalition's first chance back in power Australia will have gone completely to renewables before any nuclear power could come online in Australia.

@nyunggai Wazza, get it right. The Spanish authorities have said the outage was caused by a grid disconnect. It wouldn't matter if the power was renewa, coal, or nuclear, the outage would still have occurred. Good try at another scare tactic though. BTW, what do you get out of this crap.

@nuclearforaus IMO $100 billion like Hinkley point is not affordable. Nuclear is no more reliable than renewables. In the western world, where is was built 50 yrs ago, it is a critical part of the energy mix. This century, renewables have have eaten its lunch! It can't low emissions for 20 yrs

@nuclearforaus Affordable ? At 25 times the cost of solar ? Reliable , yes , as reliable as renewables . Emissions free ? If you don't count the 20 years of emissions from coal until it is available, yes . Critical part ? Nuclear built 50 years ago is . Renewables are more critical today !

@nuclearforaus China Has more than 1.4 Billion people & it is a critical part of their energy mix . Australia has 26 million and wouldn't see a single kw until 2040s ! We have a plan without it & no plan with it ! There is no benefit to Australia .

@nuclearforaus 65% of France's nuclear power is from nuclear power plant built last century . It may be a critical part of the energy mix but there must be a reason that only 3 reactors are being built in the western world & one of those started in 1987 !

@leopoldasch Nuclear energy? Any AI system primarily dependent on nuclear energy will be hopelessly uncompetitive by 2040 or sooner By the mid-2030s 24/7 'solar baseload' will be 30-40% cheaper than than the cheapest nuclear energy (China) and much cheaper than anything in the USA or Europe

@richwal94842899 That is just so wrong ! Frontier use a $10k /kw for nuclear Current costs in UK & EU are 25k/kw -$30k/kw Frontiers cost are amoratise for 50 years & only report to 2050 -Half the cost is missing ! 14GW by 2050 ? Where do you think we are ? Only China or Korea build that fast !

@7Kiwi IMO Because you are looking at spot price Roughly 1/3 of gas is sold at spot price 1/3 Medium term & 1/3 long term. 2022 spike will be felt in the market for 5 years at least !
