@knowsworthy I agree. AI is likely to have a profound impact on society, positively and negatively. Consequently, I would want additional regulation to help ensure the potential negative impacts are mitigated. No different than the DOT or FAA imposing regulations on cars and airplanes.

@Midnight_Captl @IanCutress @insane_analyst Imo, the investment analysis is: Nvidia have announced their implementation of custom HBM, but NVHBM is not the advantage some think it is because every other XPU designer also has plans to implement their version of custom HBM, but they have not announced them yet.
NVHBM is just the custom part of custom HBM4. Replace one high bandwidth chip to chip interface with another. The same with Broadcom, Marvell, etc. It's not complex or something revolutionary people. All I see are investors with stars in their eyes over the marketing.
@IanCutress @XpeaGPU @Midnight_Captl Precisely. The ability to customize the base die of an HBM stack, or custom HBM, has been announced a while ago. Heck, here’s a slide from Marvell in 2025 yet no one is talking about it. But funny how when Nvidia announces their version of it, people think they invented it.
@IanCutress Agreed. Too many people are easily influenced by Nvidia’s marketing machine. They see the two letters “NV” slapped onto something and they automatically think it’s unique, exclusive, and/or the best version of that particular something.

Very much a “move fast and break things” approach to reporting. It also doesn’t help they hire people who used to work at rumor mill websites.

@Kepler_L2 Maybe this is Nvidia’s true moat after all. Jensen is aggressively intertwining Nvidia into as many companies as possible w/ these deals so that the USG cannot afford to let them fall, not economically nor politically. Any sitting President won’t want it to happen on their watch.

@System360Cheese @Silicon_Fly Precisely. Zen6 and Zen6c have the same IPC. At those high core counts, you're power limited on a per-core basis anyways, so it's not likely that a hypothetical pure Zen 6 classic 256-core count SKU would clock any higher. It would just use more silicon for no gain.
