My favourite startup ritual: Friday wins slack to the team. Share every small victory Celebrate personal wins Thank specific people Be vulnerable about losses Teams run on momentum. Feed it weekly.
One thing most people forget about building startups: Your team's dreams matter as much as yours. They could work anywhere. They chose your chaos. They bet their careers on you. Honour that trust or watch your best people leave.
The truth about the $1M mark: It's harder than you think. Takes longer than you plan. Hurts more than expected. It's worth it.
To the founder stress eating at 2am: To the dev pushing code at midnight: To the sales rep hearing "no" all day: I see you. We've all been there. Tomorrow's another day. And you're closer than you think.
First principle of getting to $1M: Revenue fixes everything. Not funding. Not advisors. Not your fancy pitch deck.
The truth about 1:1s with your team Rule #1: If you're typing, you're not listening. And this job is 90% listening. The session belongs to them. Could be about their cat or their code - doesn't matter. Just shut up and listen. Skip "How's the project?" Ask "What's keeping you…
Here's what kills momentum under $1M: Hiring too fast Building too much Spending too freely Meetings about meetings "Strategy" sessions
Founders: CS is a revenue engine, just like sales. They are not a support hotline.
The only metrics that matter pre-$1M: Monthly Revenue Cash in bank Runway left Customer Happiness Everything else is vanity.
Friendly reminder: Your early employees are betting their careers on you. Never forget that.
Want to know why most startups fail? They solve problems nobody has. Talk to your customers until it hurts. Then talk some more. Your assumptions are probably wrong
