The main reason that Agile thinking speeds things up is that you’re not working on unnecessary things. The actual speed of the work doesn’t change much. (Of course, you _can_ also apply Lean principles to eliminate waste—like bogus meetings—which will probably speed things up.)
A "Sprint Goal" is never "we completed these N stories." My notion of a Sprint Goal is: 'we solved this problem for our customers' or 'we made it easier to do work in this product area' or 'our customers are happier.' The goal is about outcomes.

My Jewish ancestors were forced out of their homes during the 19th century pogroms in Odessa. Seeing Palestinians being forced out of their homes in East Jerusalem makes me sick to my stomach. If we can't learn empathy from history, the suffering of our ancestors was in vain.
