On average around one and a half million patients have a GP appointment every weekday and providing the care patients need now and in the future will require substantial further investment, and a more substantive modern contract. #TeamGP
I am reading in the medical press about yet more initiatives to “relieve pressure” on NHS general practices. In reality, these new programmes often create more work for GPs and their teams – as well as fragmenting the delivery of care - rather than taking work away from them.

Demand is rising, yet GPs are leaving or reducing hours. Newly qualified GPs face under-employment despite the NHS needing them more than ever. Why? A lack of investment in GP recruitment & locum cover. Just 0.44 fully qualified GPs per 1,000 patients -down from 0.52 in 2015.
