Video codecs are basically a quirky instruction set. It would by amusing to consider what could be done by explicitly coding for it -- make a 64k demo contest for one minute long videos. You could do a lot with explicit, non-displayed reference frames and aligning things well.

Why has it taken me 5 years of professional software development to properly learn testing? Why are we not more concerned with adding robust tests? Why is testing not taught in many programming courses? I swear tests have saved my ass so many times... WRITE TESTS.
