If π had only recently been named by English speaking graphics programmers, I wonder if π would be defined as 360 degrees? It just seems reasonable that π should be the entire pie, rather than 1/2 of a pie, although it would make the equation for area less elegant.

Self-inflicted bug this morning. It turns out there is a compiler option to help catch these (/we4456). I turned that on, and immediately found 5 more self-inflicted bugs.

Fun geometry fact which I probably knew in high-school, but re-learned today. Take two points. Take the midpoint between them, and draw a circle around the midpoint including the two points. Any point on the circle will form a right angle with the original two points.

My intern asked me why -> is called “dereference”, when it turns a pointer into a reference. I looked up the definition, and I now suspect that the word “dereference” was invented by c++.
