One thing I find interesting about Rockefeller is how obsessed he was with knowing exactly what was happening in the business. He understood that inefficiencies become very expensive at scale and at Standard Oil size even a few cents was a lot of money. But it wasn’t just about cutting costs. He knew the operation well enough to keep finding advantages his competitors didn’t have. A little less waste in one part of the business, better terms in another, lower costs wherever he could find them and more control over the parts that actually moved the economics. None of those things alone built Standard Oil however stack enough of them together and you start operating on completely different economics from everyone else. That principle hasn’t changed. What changed is how much of the company we can now monitor and understand in real time. We can build systems that are constantly looking at where costs changed, what is slowing down, where the same issues keeps happening, where a process is creating unnecessary work or where the numbers are starting to move before it becomes obvious. You don’t have to wait for someone to notice something three weeks later in a report anymore, you can catch it while there’s still something you can do about it. And once you keep doing that across the whole operation, it start compounding into an advantage that gets harder and harder to compete with. That’s the kind of thing we’re building into companies now. Most people are still looking at AI as finding the one big thing to automate. But a company has hundreds of places where time gets wasted, margin gets lost and decisions are slower than they should be. The opportunity is not finding one massive AI use case. It’s having a company that keeps finding ways to operate better than it did yesterday.

Most companies don't need another AI tool. They need fewer screens. Take an ecom brand doing decent volume as an example. Customers orders are on Shopify, payments in Stripe, ad spend somewhere else, refunds in an old fashioned spreadsheet and a lot of the actual context still going to Slack. You have all the data but understanding what’s actually happening across all of it seems impossible. Refunds can be going up, margins can be getting squeezed and the reason might be somewhere across support, fulfillment or acquisition without nobody piecing together why. The answers exist but they’re buried across different systems. One of the most useful things we’ve built for ecom companies is a way to bring all of it together. Not by replacing everything they already use but by creating a layer on top with full customer context and a clear view of what’s happening across the business with exactly what each team needs to perform at a high level. Everything else becomes infrastructure.

I spent years running operations before AI got good enough to fundamentally change how companies can be built. That probably shaped how I look at it. I’m not really interested in adding an “AI feature” to something for the sake of saying it uses AI. I’m more interested in where a company starts to break as it grows. Leads come in and speed to lead starts getting worse, follow-ups become inconsistent and good opportunities die because nobody really owns the next step. All while customer data gets scattered around different softwares, teams end up working from different sources of truth and founders never really have a clean view of what’s happening across their business. So when a founder asks me what they should automate I start somewhere else. Where is growth dragging more headcount, more software and more complexity behind it? That’s the part worth redesigning first. You can’t automate your way out of a bad foundation. The tools come after.

@AlexBukovac I call it Q4 lol

5. Your first step Start small. Identify just one area where you’re overwhelmed and test the waters with a VA. The time and energy you gain back will speak for itself. Entrepreneurship is hard enough - don’t make it harder by doing it all alone.

4. Why you can’t afford not to delegate When you try to do everything yourself, key areas get overlooked. You will neglect follow-ups or miss opportunities to optimize your workflows. Delegation isn’t an expense - it’s an investment in your business.

Spoiler alert: You can’t do it all. Trying to grow your business while handling every little detail is a recipe for burnout. No matter how capable you are, stretching yourself too thin will catch up with you. Delegation isn’t just helpful - it’s necessary.

Self-mastery turns burdens into privileges and challenges into recreation.

5. High-leverage Work For High-Leverage Results As an entrepreneur, your time is most valuable on high-leverage work that drive growth. Once you start handing off those tasks ,you'll have more freedom to focus on scaling your business and less time spent on operational details.

4. Delegate EAs can do both automations and delegations. Currently my team manages about 600 tasks per month for me, split between 7 EAs. They handle everything from managing inboxes and updating calendars to document preparation and research.

Hiring an offshore team is life-changing. Here's how I started delegating and reclaimed ~100 hours of work each month... [A Quick Thread]
