We are thrilled to welcome @KinstrifeGame to the Hooded Horse family! This medieval strategy RPG features physically simulated combat and casts you as a knight errant in the tumultous landscape of 13th-century Germany. Wishlist Kinstrife on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/1256270/Ki…
@_staggart_ Would there be a way to make it conform with terrain? Often terrain height changes are more granular than the control points of the spline.
@_kzr There's just something about all those faders and knobs on the launch control that make me want to hook it up to dozens of parameters in Unity. I sohuld get one some day.
@a_4amin @kimmonismus Also this has been done already at the latest with HoloLens 1, so approximately 10 years ago.
@a_4amin @kimmonismus Certified surgical navigation tools with infrared marker tracking like the one shown here have submilimeter accuracy. The bigger issue of accuracy is how accurate the overlay gets - moving the AR display relative to the eyes can introduce significant errors.
@OverhypeStudios Awesome, the writing in Battle Brothers was great, but I feel due to the procedural world generation, it didn't have as much impact as it could have had with fully handwritten characters. Looking forward to this!
@MaxHarchik Sorry if I'm missing a joke here, but why not throw a limiter in to get a bit more control at least?
@Dagr8_Carlos It's great that you have this healthy approach to your art for yourself. In indie game dev people frequently feel though that others should care about (and often buy) their games, purely because they spent a lot of time on them. That's the context.
@Dagr8_Carlos The thread was someone asking why the game they made sold below their expectations.
@davidscottjaffe @ko_dll Yeah, honestly, the first 3:10 of you video sum it up. I feel that what a lot of indies seem to miss is the perspective of the audience. Why should anyone care? It's the question for anyone making anything these days.
@TheRealEricHu Honestly I can't see much of a difference besides perhaps slightly sharper edges at 1.0 resolution, probably because twitter compression is the biggest detractor image quality here :D
@HighlandKe26288 Ah, so I guess the separate buffer is to properly inject it after the transparent pass. All of your tech art stuff is paying off, this is definitely the best terrain + vegetation I've seen in HDRP in an actual game, and the capsule occlusion also works really well!
@SzwajkaKacper @FewesW Thanks for the link, was wondering what the principle was there!
@HighlandKe26288 Ah awesome! I assume while you were taking the screen space shadow pass apart you also added the capsule shadows there? How do those work, if I may ask?
@boris_brave I didn't see anything like that in the documentation yet, but perhaps it could be useful to have the option to make action rulebooks read-only/'seal' them? The concept sounds great tho and like it could be a much better solution for many games than visual scripting (+modding?)
@boris_brave Not strictly a problem, but the fact that public events can be hooked into from anywhere can make the flow of control very obscure and debugging hard. In some sense, rulebooks seem to offer the inverse - a lot of places that can potentially change a central behaviour.
@artofjeffp Honestly, a lot of these examples look like a not so great tradeoff between silhouette vs performance. Unless you have thousands of these on screen, the difference between 240 and 140 trees is marginal. You'd probably be better off cutting some more tris and make it LOD1, no?
