Universal healthcare in the US (including mental health) has always been my strongest political belief, but in light of COVID it’s dire. The US is the ONLY industrialized country where healthcare is a privilege and not a human right.

We were a long way from the uptake of telehealth from both a provider and patient perspective, until COVID-19. TeleRehab solutions that focus on increasing therapeutic exercise remotely will prove to be a cost saving investment with better patient outcomes. #OccupationalTherapy

We know people do better in neuro rehab with more therapeutic exercise, but in our current system people are left to do it on their own with little support. It requires a behavior change. How might the healthcare system support and empower people to reach their potential?

The OTAC conference solidified my love for occupational therapy. It also made me sad that the healthcare system broke my optimistic spirit. I needed to leave healthcare in order to salvage my innovation and actually make positive change.
