WHERE IS THE BUTTON that sends this to every parent with a child in academy football???? “It is possible to reach the first team at an older age. You don't need to go up there at 16. There's no rush. There's no rush. My advice is tell the youth players to stay calm. Their parents should be even more at ease. Let them study, let them train, let them listen to the coaches and trainers at the club. There's no rush to become a professional. In the end, it's better to arrive at a point of maturity. There are cases like Messi's, who get away because they already have such a high level that it's normal for them to rise when they are sixteen or seventeen years old. The vast majority do not have to go up to that age. They can try out for the first team or the reserve team, but they have to go back down, they have to recover, they have to live with people their own age, they have to live human experiences that will make them mature. There's no rush. There's always too much haste. You can feel it among the parents. It's not a mistake. Tranquillity. You can be a professional at twenty two or twenty three years old, playing for the first team in the First Division, and still play for ten more years. The important thing is that when you go up, you stay when you go up and when the time comes, you are prepared. That is important. There are countless cases of players who taste the sweetness of victory at a very young age. They are unable to assimilate a complicated experience, neither are their families, and then they end up in a category that perhaps they shouldn't have even tried.” - Luis Enrique

🚨 Arsene Wenger on claims PSG have an unfair Champions League advantage because they can rest players in Ligue 1: “I find this argument quite amusing because I remember when people used to say exactly the opposite about Paris Saint-Germain. For years, whenever PSG were eliminated from the Champions League, people would tell you, ‘Well, of course. They play in France. They don’t face enough competition.’ They would say the players had won the league too early, that they weren’t being tested every weekend, that they arrived in Europe without the intensity or quality required to compete against the best teams. I remember hearing it so often that you could almost predict the analysis before the match had finished. Now PSG are winning in Europe, and suddenly playing in France has become their greatest advantage. So which one is it? You cannot tell me for 10 years that Ligue 1 quality is the reason PSG cannot win the Champions League, and then tell me Ligue 1 is the reason they are winning it. At some point, perhaps we should discuss the football. Of course, having the opportunity to rotate players is useful. Every manager would welcome that. But resting a player does not teach him how to escape a press. It does not teach your defenders where to position themselves. It does not make eleven players understand exactly when to move and when to stay. Those things require work. Imagine you’re a manager preparing to face Manchester City. You tell your players, ‘Listen, PSG have rested their best players at the weekend.’ One of them asks, ‘Okay, boss. But what do we do when Vitinha receives the ball between our midfielders?’ What do you tell him? ‘Don’t worry, he’s well rested’? That isn’t a tactical solution. Another player asks, ‘And when Dembele comes inside and Hakimi runs beyond him?’ Again, what is your answer? Because the problem isn’t that these players have slept for eight hours instead of six. The problem is that they know exactly what they’re doing. I watched PSG tonight and what impressed me wasn’t simply their energy. It was the understanding between the players. One moves, another recognises the space, a third is already preparing for the next pass. That doesn’t come from having an easy Saturday afternoon against a smaller French club. It comes from training, coaching and repetition. And I think people are forgetting something important about Manchester City. This is a very good team. They went to Anfield and beat Liverpool 3-0 just a few days ago. You don’t suddenly become incapable of playing football because your opponents had an opportunity to rotate their squad. PSG are making excellent players uncomfortable. That’s the difference. If I were Luis Enrique, I would almost enjoy listening to these explanations. Because imagine spending months working on your team, improving the movement, the pressing, the discipline, and then somebody says, ‘They’re only winning because they don’t have to play their best players every weekend.’ You would probably look at your assistants and ask, ‘So what have we been doing in training all this time?’ I have great respect for French football. I know its difficulties, and I know its qualities. But the league didn’t suddenly change because PSG started winning European trophies. What changed was PSG. And perhaps it’s time people gave Luis Enrique and his players credit for that, instead of searching for a new explanation every time they beat somebody.”

Luis Campos He finds stars before the world knows their names. That is his craft. Origin Luis Campos was born in Portugal. He had a short playing career at small local clubs. He started coaching at 27 in the lower leagues of Portugal. He even ended one of Jose Mourinho's long unbeaten runs as a rival manager. In 2012 he worked as a scout and analyst for Mourinho at @realmadrid. That was the start of his move into recruitment. Work He made his name as sporting director at @AS_Monaco from 2013. He then joined @losclive in 2017. Analysts credit him as the architect of the Monaco side that won Ligue 1 in 2016-17 and the Lille side that won it in 2020-21. In 2022 he joined @PSG_English as football advisor. In 2025 his deal was extended to 2030, with a wider role across owner QSI's clubs. Leadership Campos trusts his own eyes. He is known for judging players live, sometimes after only a few minutes of watching. He uses his own scouting database and studies a player's character, not just their skill. When he joined PSG he said he saw it as "the most ambitious and exciting club in the world of football." Recruitment His list of finds is long. At Monaco he worked with a young Kylian Mbappe and signed players like Fabinho, Bernardo Silva and Anthony Martial. At PSG he led a shift away from big-name galacticos toward a younger, more balanced squad. That rebuild helped PSG win the 2024-25 Champions League, the club's first. Caveat Not every signing works, and huge budgets make his job easier than most. Some critics say his methods depend on strong owner backing and heavy spending. That is a fair point to weigh. Takeaway Campos's strength is spotting talent early and building a squad with a clear plan. He remains at PSG and QSI through 2030. His task now is to keep the club at the top after reaching the peak. To read more about leadership, player development & recruitment, follow me: @undervalu

🚨🇵🇹 Portuguese Federation president Pedro Proença: “The FPF resolves situations internally. I reiterate: there is a very strong relationship between Jorge Jesus and Cristiano Ronaldo. If that weren't the case, perhaps Ronaldo would have already left our national team”. “Everything that will happen in the coming days will be a time of tranquility, conversation, and discussion, and what we want is for us all to be back with our national team in November”.

3-2. pic.x.com/cyx1afh44m
