@ehanford I’ve seen dozens of kids “reading at grade level” based on DRA scores, but they can’t decode a CVC nonsense word at all. “Fluency fakeout” - these kids sound fluent, but are guessing based on context, and they slip through the cracks every time.

Students will remember you because you genuinely love them. If you don't love spending time w/ children, no amount of training, PD or inspirational quotes in the world will overcome it. Love teaching, but love WHO you teach more!
Good teaching is not accidental. It results from teachers who plan well and who connect with their students. Both of these are intentional. Good teaching takes energy, passion, and perseverance. It is hard work. I’m grateful for all the teachers who are putting in the work.
