RLHF doesn't help here. To give the answer "either 2001 or 2002" is not intrinsically correct. It just makes most sense for a model that has knowledge of reports from 2001 or 2002. A static dataset of human preferences for "2001 or 2002" will become out of date.
When training set says "X died in 2001" and "X died in 2002" then the model will assign probability 50% each, when what some want is "X died in 2001 or 2002 depending on source"
