@hjluks @yamabushisurfer Used to climb 10 years ago, getting back into it with kids and have to say, there’s a lot to be said for general health and strength benefits at V0-V2 without the risk of falls. I’m a fan.

Perhaps next experiment is loading a heavy pack and climbing one mountain rather than packing light and doing 6. Playing with the idea that our bodies know what they need if we’re prepared to listen. Is there a niche harmony between unchosen physiological needs and chosen goals?

Separately from my usual goal orientated approach towards training ⛰️ ⛰️ ⛰️ I’ve been listening to how my nervous system responds to different modalities. Whenever I challenge it with muscular strain, especially holding a position against force, it whispers ‘thank you’.

When I finish a long endurance session sub threshold it’s thankful, but more because it’s finished. Mountains sit somewhere between but find myself exhausting other systems to find level of strain I’m seeking. A heavy barbell on your back gets there quicker.

@feelthebyrn1 I like the outcome of endurance (mountain adventures) but I’ve been paying attention to stress/peace response and it’s safe to say heavy strength training is where my body is happiest. Still, fun to visit both sides.
