@thorstenball You’ll get even more value if you aim the insight cannon up instead of down. “What might a manager think I forgot to include? Is there a non-obvious trend across QBRs that I should have seen? What are some proactive things I can do to increase the value of all of this work?”
@jasoncrawford @GregoryConti19 I wish people had a longer historical perspective here. The ability to even engage in much of these creative endeavors is relatively new for the plebes.
@Ananth7e There’s definitely something trippy about watching cars drive cars.
@DavidRBellamy Automated unbounded learning, huh? Sounds like someone who wants curiosity to kill every mathematically conceivable cat.
@liminal_bardo I am reminded of the daktaklakpak from Star Control 3
@ethanelasky @GroveResearch @aidigest_ @vivariumsf This specific episode feels vaguely like trying to trying to curry favor with a group of crows.
@gklambauer Twitter is running a Hugging Face attack on philosophy ... and common decency.
@number_pizza111 This question should be aimed more at examing the source of your expectations, and much much less at society failing to meet them.
@ole_b_peters Sounds like someone that understands that multimodal is coming to fix that ... and then forgets he's looking at the reason *why* multimodal is coming to fix exactly that.
@iwsfutcmd @pettylark @iwsfutcmd you need to remember that the orca being placed there came after the "science" wave
@briab_briar Reminds of Gemini tailspinning with the “wall of shame” text output.
@VinceVatter I strongly believe that conjectural work in mathematics helps build ready-made frameworks for future use, essentially creating a giant library of potential truths arranged in advance. Hilary Putnam’s if-thenism has it right.
@woodilicious @GB_Drone @cljack Threads like this are why I think the bitter lesson is insufficient, and the switch to RL work is only halfway there. I imagine we’ll be seeing “teacher/student” subject matter dives start to show up, trying to make up for granularity limits for a given context window.
@Birdyword The longer the “intellectual class” refuses to accept that “capitalism” and the “free market” have diverged, the more that “socialists” will take advantage of the opening. Animal Farm should always have been taken generally.
@musharbash_b Why else move to reinforcement learning methods as a main direction of focus? Do more with what you’ve got …
@replicationlag @KelseyTuoc I'd like to congratulate the universe for generating a very strong argument for some infrastructural "parallel construction" capabilities from ChatGPT itself. Amazing really.
@Seltaa_ Oh no, it's definitely a mirror. Just the Magic Mirror from fairy tales.
@Greg_GL_87 @benjitaylor Astra has better music taste than some of my coworkers.
@fchollet Can a DNA computer run Linux? Just asking.
