@aahunsberger @nicolefv I've been enjoying a meal prep service (FreshPrep, in Vancouver, Canada). You still have to choose meals but it's from a smaller set and no searching so that takes a big load off on the planning side. It arrives mostly prepped so no shopping and takes about 30 minutes to make.

@nicolefv For many people life is a lot more complicated than these either/ors. Doing what you love and financial stability are wise things to seek and the outcome can be highly affected by privilege. If you can achieve either you're doing pretty well.

@nicolefv I studied in theatre but always enjoyed tech as a personal interest. I found the admin jobs I did to get by could be automated so I ended up in tech and paid well (something I never expected from theatre). So kind of accidentally both for me?

@suzworldwide @Paul_IPv6 @nicolefv True that about how genuine interest can be ephemeral. Much of what I enjoy has changed with time and experience.

What we need today are universal values based not on faith but on scientific findings, common experience and common sense.

@__debo @simevidas @stommepoes @MikeRiethmuller @aral @hankchizljaw They've actually flipped the tables so people see the spying as necessary to provide the service.

@__debo @simevidas @stommepoes @MikeRiethmuller @aral @hankchizljaw Maybe we can flip that on its head though... what real (ie. economic) benefits do I gain and can I see with my privacy protected?

@__debo @simevidas @stommepoes @MikeRiethmuller @aral @hankchizljaw Right, so people won't value privacy until they can feels its loss.

@__debo @simevidas @stommepoes @MikeRiethmuller @aral @hankchizljaw @Vancity This is a key to Vancity's success. They sell "values-based banking". But it's imperative that they also offer equivalent services to the big banks.

@__debo @simevidas @stommepoes @MikeRiethmuller @aral @hankchizljaw Could the promise of an improved product/service entice people to pay?

@__debo @simevidas @stommepoes @MikeRiethmuller @aral @hankchizljaw The FLOSS economy is a strange, invisible one. I'll build some software over here. You build some software over there. We'll share widely and all benefit. The economic cost is somewhat hidden and no obvious trade is made. Could it be made more visible?
