According to @OptaAnalyst Carlisle United: Rank 3rd worst in open play chance creation in League Two. Rank 9th best in open play defence (based on xG conceded) in League Two. Thoughts on the imbalance of the team here: foxanalyticsfc.co.uk/post/keith-mil… #cufc

Keith Millen's Blues. A look at how Carlisle have changed since he took over. 🛡️Defensive solidity. ⚔️Inconsistent attack - fewer numbers getting forwards. 🧤Exceptional goalkeeping. ✈️How to get the best from the wide players. 📘Read on the blog foxanalyticsfc.co.uk/post/keith-mil… #cufc

Mark Howard appreciation tweet. Looking at the 11 league games since Millen took charge (excl. Northampton): ⚽️Howard has faced shots on target totalling 9.83xG. ⛔️Howard has conceded just 8 goals from that. Some exceptional saves in there. Data from Wyscout. #cufc

Carlisle United vs Forest Green Rovers. 🛡️FGR's 3 at the back taking up same space as CUFC's 4 gives them an overload in midfield. ⚽️So much of CUFC's play going through Armer, FGR more connected and mixing up their attack. CUFC forwards isolated or deep. Little width. #cufc

Carlisle United performance trend. Millen has got Carlisle just creating more chances than they give up. The so far solid defence faces a stern test today against Forest Green Rovers. It’ll be interesting to see how it does against the best attack in the division. #cufc

Interesting comments from Millen. Is the answer Joe Riley? Out of Carlisle’s regular midfield 3 last season, Joe Riley had the best pass success % and the least losses per game. League games only. Data from Wyscout. #cufc

More on Carlisle vs Hartlepool. ⛔️Struggled to pass ball into final third. Only made a couple of passes into box from Patrick, Gibson and Dickenson. 🏹Crosses weren't made often. 🛡️Defensive shape is limiting attack too much? ⏩Riley could get midfield moving forwards? #cufc

@k25226 I thought Omotoye and Patrick played on the shoulder and Alessandra came a bit deeper to link play which helped. We are getting outnumbered in the middle is so we have to go wide. Not enough crosses and progression wide. Senior looked good. Mellish did well linking play.

Carlisle United vs Hartlepool. ⚽️Armer again seeing most of the ball ➡️Right side not seeing much of the ball. ⚔️Forwards quite isolated. 🏹Only 10 crosses attempted (Carlisle's season average is 15). #cufc

Carlisle vs Crawley. ⚔️Crawley's 3 up front stopped Carlisle's usual attack down the flanks. ⚽️Carlisle had more of the ball but struggled to progress forwards. 🎯Carlisle mostly limited to long shots. #cufc

8 points from this fairly kind run of 4 games. Decent return built from defensive solidity but I think it shows where we are from an attacking perspective. Millen’s next task is to work out how to create more without sacrificing too much at the back. #cufc

Great chance to distance ourselves from the bottom next month. The next four league games are: Away vs Scunthorpe. Then 3 home games against Bradford, Crawley and Hartlepool. Even before bringing players in you’d like to think 8 points is achievable. #cufc

Carlisle United - Chances created and conceded. 10 game rolling average of expected goals for and against. Blue above red - creating better chances than opponents. Millen deserves credit for making defence solid but until attack improves results will be inconsistent. #cufc

@RyCUFC Yeah Crawley’s game plan really worked against us. If we could get forward early we’d have success down the flanks but Crawley pressed us well and Millen wanted to keep the ball rather than launch it forward like we used to! We did well to get a point

@officialcufc @crawleytown Crawley’s move to 3-4-3 has made them dangerous going forward but also means they can be attacked out wide and on the counter. Carlisle have strength out wide so if they can defend well they should have plenty of chances. #cufc

Crawley Town - Opportunities and Threats. ⚽️Recently a 3-4-3. 🛡️Watch out for overload against CBs. ↔️Lots of space out wide to exploit. ⚔️Counter attack opportunities. Video analysis on the blog: foxanalyticsfc.co.uk/post/crawley-t… #cufc
