@ChrSzegedy Good thing is that you probably dont need to autoformalize all of IUT. The disputed step is a 10 page long proof. Lean still needs IUTs definitions tho. Its worth it, you apparently get a million for showing an essential flaw in Mochizukis proof
@AcerFur @DmitryRybin1 They also found a counterexample to a step in the UGT proof (hexagonmath.org/2610.00575). Luckily they were able to fix it 😮💨
@aimalysheva @OpenAI @AnthropicAI Its not as bad as it seems tho. Most of the 800+ papers assuming ETH arent wasted. Their reductions are still theorems. The same toolkit (e.g. sparsification lemma) now carries a 2^o(n) 3-SAT algorithm over to coloring, vertex cover, independent set etc.
@ConstantinKogl Its hard to compare. The compute differed hugely. NS used 20x FLT tokens with 10,000 agents (incl. finding proof), YM compute is unknown. FLT also formalized a known proof with a blueprint and Mathlibs number theory libraries. YM had far less Lean groundwork in analysis and QFT
