When I was diagnosed my older daughter was just learning how to speak. I was given 6 months so I never thought I would hear her read, let alone read with her. So, yeah, this was everything.

When I was diagnosed with ALS my older daughter was 2. She’s almost 6 now. Last night we read a book together. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier. (Sound on).

I gave my 5 year old a good night hug. As she walked away, she stopped, turned around and said, “Daddy, when your ALS goes away I’m going to teach you how to do a flip on the jungle gym.” I broke into a huge smile and replied, “I’m going to hold you to that promise.”
