When you introduce the IB PYP key concept of connection and during center time a student shows you this and says... "Look! Connection!"... you know you have a creative thinker in the room!! Can't wait to go deeper!

We are fast approaching the THIRD school year of dealing with COVID. THIRD. There are incoming second grade students who started school in 2019 who have never experienced school without the presence of COVID. Patience… compassion… and grace are more important than ever.

The transdisciplinary nature of PYP, the idea that student agency should be the expectation in every classroom rrally stand out to me.

@Kinder_Moo @Aacps_Science @aacps_ib @ibpyp @SouthgateTigers We discovered that daffodils do not show the coloring as well as carnations. We are now wondering would it be different if we used more food coloring????

For kids who have experienced @Kinder_Moo class, she truly builds life long learners. "I wonder what will happen if we dye the water with these kind of flowers? 🌼💡💥 @Aacps_Science @aacps_ib @ibpyp @SouthgateTigers

Rather than asking, “What will we teach in the curriculum?” the fundamental curriculum question becomes, “What should students be able to do with their learning?”. In other words, what if we structured (i.e., mapped) the curriculum around authentic tasks and projects?

It's time for Curriculum Mapping 3.0! Check out my latest blog that makes the case for a needed shift from curriculum as content "coverage" to a more deliberate focus on authentic performance -- and what students can DO with their learning. solutiontree.com/blog/its-time-…

@antiracist_ed I wish I had learned more in history class. The same concepts but from a variety of perspectives. #1619project opened my eyes to so many things I had never considered. I am learning everyday.

Once upon a classroom, I thought I gave students a voice. But it's not mine to give. I cannot give what they already own. But I can give an ear. That is mine to give. Student voice is already there. It's not something we give. It's something we honor. And we do when we listen.
