@PettyPropolis I had the same exact experience at Reagan yesterday. I told the agent to read the sign posted 5 feet away, but they insisted it was required.

If you’re looking for bike ride ideas this weekend, check out the Olympic Discovery Trail. I joined a ride yesterday starting in Port Angeles and we covered 26.5 miles of breathtaking views and ended at Jamestown S’Klallam Red Cedar Hall in Sequim. (1/3)

Yesterday, I caught up with speed demon Ian Mackay at Port Angeles Pump Track to learn more about this unique track. With a rolling series of ADA accessible looping paths, Ian tells us why he enjoys the park and how inclusive parks like this one are valuable to the community.

@WashingtonCOG Yes! Both Adobe and Davinci have that option. These are both industry-standard programs and you can't go wrong with either. I use Adobe since I already pay for the entire Adobe Suite anyway. When you export. It's super easy to encode for each platform and to adjust aspect ratio.

@WashingtonCOG The paid version allows you to work with higher frame rates and higher resolution (>4k I believe). Also has more advanced tools. For most uses the free version should work just fine though. Another option is Adobe Premiere Pro, which is what I use. But that's $30-$60 per month.

@MrNickJohnson This would be nice if I had any faith the cost savings would actually be reinvested into newsrooms.

@stevekigginstv Terrible news! It was a pleasure covering stories with you, even when it was horrible news that brought you out to the Olympic Peninsula. This is a huge loss for Western Washington.

the most toxic idea journalism profs instill into students is to never expect to make good money in journalism. it's not only untrue but teaches young journos to accept exploitation w/o bothering to self-advocate or unionize

@lynds_summers @k_gillespie @thecolumbian And then the community suffers when there are no reporters left with any institutional knowledge or experience in the community.

But how can we expect a reporter to write about homelessness and affordable housing if the reporter can actually afford housing AND to pay their bills? I know my best work was when I was worried about paying the rent.

@lynds_summers @k_gillespie @thecolumbian I made $16 an hour as a reporter and left journalism to work in government so that I could afford to live.
