Monthly injection, followed by endocrine appointment today, so lots of needles for Samuel to deal with in one day. I had to agree to go to the local ‘nerds and geeks’ shops afterwards as his treat. #LateEffects #ChildhoodCancer
Is year 5 anxiety and dread a thing? I think it must be because I’m so aware that it will be 5 years since diagnosis this November that it’s hard to live in the moment. The paltry 12% 5 year survival rate does nothing to help this. #ChildhoodCancer
Well, it’s only taken 20 days to get the results from Samuel’s last scan but it’s another NED, so all is well and we can breathe once more. #ChildhoodCancer #Scanxiety
Samuel had an MRI scan on 4 Jan and whilst I do know that no news generally means good news, it would help my anxiety, and probably my heart too, if we were given results a bit more quickly. #Scanxiety #ChildhoodCancer

It only took 31 months for brain cancer to kill me I was only 19 I was diagnosed at 16 my grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma tumour was on the brain stem inoperable so I never really stood a chance I really tried to live life to the full after diagnosis but that was hard my life was…

In the relentless saga that is late effects, Sam is once again without the meds he needs to cope with day to day life. I reported the faulty GH cartridge over a month ago but Alcura has yet to get a prescription from @uhbwNHS so he has now run out. #LateEffects #ChildhoodCancer

Since the end of Sam’s treatment & his hair grew back so he looks ‘better’, I have struggled with well-meaning people saying, but he’s alive, isn’t he?’ Yes, he is. But is ‘not dead’ good enough? Is that the best we can do? #ChildhoodCancer #BrainTumourSurvivor
We received Sam’s scan results via the post today. For some reason, the letter took a whole week to arrive; no idea what’s going on with Royal Mail, but the scan results are good. No evidence of disease & that’s the best news we can hope for. 💙 #ChildhoodCancer #Scanxiety

Today I’ve joined MPs from across the political spectrum calling on the Health Minister to implement a National Brain Tumour Strategy. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40. We can change this, together.
