@khemaridh 4 years with my son and I am averaging one night a year away from him. A huge shift from traveling minimum 50-60 % of the year and absolutely worth it.

@khemaridh A simple place to start. First, learn to calm the mind and focus on presence with a short dedicated meditation practice. 1. Watch the breath, in and out, nothing else for 5 minutes. Later, it can be extended to 10 minutes.

@khemaridh I’d say forget the need for meditation at first. Start with a moderate dose of THC and have them focus on something like the taste of an apple or how something soft feels in their hands. They’ll get lost in the moment of the experience and show them what’s possible with focus
@khemaridh I would go for types of meditation that are actually fun & reinforce the whole "stillness can be awesome" idea. Ideas would be: gratitude, metta, forgiveness, or yoga nidra!
@khemaridh Harris app was a valuable on-ramp for me. Counting breaths I find very intuitive. 'Jittery' is worth investigating - ensure state is good/not over-caffeinated etc. I would recommend first some 5 minutes of coherence breathing and then switch to meditation. youtube.com/watch?v=Vi0_7i…
@khemaridh Personally, I found Andy (headspace founder/buddhist) and his introductory series to be the best. He’s since left the company but his original content remains. Very lightweight, modernized approach.
@khemaridh I really like the Open app. I did TM training and still practice it, although I am moving back to focusing on my breath instead of my phrase. I think TM is a good introduction though if they want to get away from the phone.
