listen, i agree that the industry needs to change, and if youre a working writer, you should be able to pay all your bills with that, but can we not with the quotes of like "ew, i had to get a DAY JOB between rooms, can you BELIEVE? i made COFFEE?" thats some peoples WHOLE JOB
like....i work a minimum wage job and i write and my minimum wage job is HARDER. and i am not ashamed of it, and you are not **too special to fold clothes at lululemon** because you wrote an episode of something once.
@lizzzzzielogan I’m more than happy working this job while I try to get my big break.
@lizzzzzielogan @ohJuliatweets A professional writer forced to serve coffee to pay the bills - that could be a movie!
@lizzzzzielogan Totally agree. Another part I find troubling though is that in theory you basically have to find a way to keep writing full time for free (pitching, spec’ing, meetings, etc.) whilst doing the interim job in order to nail down the next paid writing gig, which seems impossible
@lizzzzzielogan a job’s a job in some sense, working in general sucks, that’s why i don’t get in a moral panic about restaurant, retail or even sex work or selling drugs, etc. job’s a job. we all gotta eat, pay rent, etc somehow
@lizzzzzielogan Hollywood is filled with nepo babies whose parents pay 100% of their bills. Wherein they live like they make 500k a year when in actuality they make $0. It’s a system built for trust fund kids. I know plenty of people who “broke in” that way.
