It is absurd for some Rajya Sabha MPs to protest at the extension of the session by a day. Best to view it as compulsory detention for the collective failure to undertake any meaningful work this session. To salvage its reputation, the RS must sit for as long as necessary.

We inherited the legacy of India at 142, but in the first 2 years we moved up & retained 130 place. In the third year, we have made a major jump of 30 places to break into100 and in the 4th year, we have moved to 77. This is a 65 position improvement in the first four years.

Modi Govt. had inherited Rs 1.30 lakh crore unpaid bills of the oil companies during 2009-14. It paid back with interest. The portion of central share of excise taxes- the major chunk goes to the states - is being spent on social sector and rural infrastructure like never before.
