@astroskeeter Sorry, mostly away from Twitter, so just seeing this! Yes, Ro did a week at CWB in 2019 and loved it. Beginning Sailing, I think. This year’s camp is called Quick & Daring and involves building/sailing a boat across Lake Union.

@antiangie @astroskeeter Most of his friends ended up at the other middle school, and his one friend that was supposed to go to Eckstein ended up in private school with the idea he'd be able to go in person. So far, it's only the younger kids going.
@antiangie @astroskeeter My Rowan is doing fine academically as far as I can tell, but definitely bummed to miss the social aspects. Definitely not making as many new friends, but he did start an virtual lunch club with one new friend to talk Star Wars, so that's cool? (But also maybe sad?)

@hopejumper That happened three years ago today, as Timehop reminded me. Husband and I were there. It was so scary.
Just noticed the 7-yo has Shawshank-style tally marks on his desk. “That’s how many days I’ve been sitting here.” Holy crap, he feels it, too. 😳 (Also, he learned tally marks a couple weeks ago, so he’s retaining something in 2nd grade, thankfully.)
My "best" today is just trying to keep the kids connected to the wifi that keeps kicking them off so they can do their online classes while I pace the house and try not to cry. Maybe answer a work email or two. This shit is just so hard.
I had my mid-year review today, which went better than expected given the whole WFH/taking care of kids situation. My boss also said, “Your ‘good enough’ is probably better than someone else’s ‘best’” and well, did I ever need to hear that right about now.

@Hernando_206 The constant context switching between parent, IT support, teacher aide, and professional person is maddening. We've had some decent days, too, but some days it really hits me how hard this is, and that I can't yet see how or when we return to normal.

@justexpressive Yeah, I lost it toward the end. My good friend @RocketJaz also has an octopus tattoo as a symbol of motherhood. The way they sacrifice their bodies is tragic and beautiful all at once.
I was not prepared for the emotional impact of My Octopus Teacher. It is so bizarre and interesting and utterly heartbreaking. We watched with the kids who were riveted as well. Highly recommend.

Timehop reminded me that two years ago today I was in Denver for a work conference and went to see Beck at Red Rocks and there was a harvest moon rise behind the stage. Some day we'll make new memories like that again, right?
