They desperately want to belong without being seen. They want to be an entirely new person and also blend in. They're full of questions that don't have easy answers. Life is coming at them fast and adulthood feels scarily, wonderfully close. They are not at all adults.
I get the anger and grief and rage for the inexplicable, inexcusable loss of Ahmad. Nothing will ever bring him back, nothing will ever make this okay. So we should be asking how to prevent the next case, not ruining more children's lives.
