Philosophers like Kripke, Putnam, Dennett and Fodor got obituaries in major outlets like @nytimes and @guardian. Yet as far as I can see (anyone know otherwise?), there has, so far, still been no such obituary for John Searle, who was no less eminent. This is absurd and unjust.

This hits hard. Searle was one of the greats among contemporary philosophers. His work in philosophy of mind and language had enormous influence on me when I was a grad student, and his unusually lucid style was the main influence on my own approach to philosophical writing. RIP
