Here's a shot of the Sombrero galaxy I captured last night with my scope. It's quite small, so it is much harder to get details on than say, Andromeda galaxy. Overall I'm still thrilled at how this capture is coming along! This is just 90 min out of a planned 30 hour capture.

When I started teaching, I met many veterans who were bitter, and at the time I could not understand why they felt that way. 16 Years in and now I get it. This profession can only disappoint you so many times before you become demoralized. I’m not there quite yet, but I get it

Certain types of sea urchins will pick up a shell with their tube feet and ‘wear’ it, with a behavior known as “covering reaction”, mainly because they shy away from light. So aquarium enthusiasts 3D-printed tiny hats and they actually wear them.
Years of administrators recommending ‘building relationships’ as the solution to behavioral concerns in the classroom was always going to end with great teachers burning out because relationships can only go so far and cannot and should not be used as behavioral management.

@heymrsbond Maybe it’s the teachers who are struggling with teaching after Covid and the ficus needs to be there. It’s hard to do what we do while we are always chasing the target that was lost when we closed down schools. The impact is real and the experience was not the same for everyone.

Schools function on a lot of ‘good will’ from staff. Offering to do things like staying late, organising things last minute, going on trips. When staff are exhausted or start putting boundaries in place because they’re burning out it’s quite a shock for some people.
"You have to have a summative assessment." Why?
I captured the Eclipse using 5 different telescopes. It will be a lot of work to combine all the data into the final image I envisioned when I took the trip to Utah to capture it, but in the meantime admire this beautiful shot out of my 8" telescope with a white light filter.
