@JannyTooth @clashreport About his character, multiple world and industry leaders interacting with him have good things to say. Also he has developed a good professional relationship with your own premier. So judge him on his acts, which are much different from Trudeau's. This is not decline.

@donkoclock After East Germany (DDR) fell, unified Germany started declassifying many East German Stasi records. Former DDR citizens were shocked to read their files and learn just how many friends and neighbors were informing on them and everyone. It was prevalent in communist countries.

@robhoeij Any ideas on Canada as an associate member, or whatever it may end up looking like?

@AjungiTech The new Telesat LEO sat constellation (coming in a few years) scoped for gov, military, and secure/secret traffic. Starlink will remain for civilian choice, along with Xplorenet and Bell and Telus and Rogers and all those guys. But Starlink is still regulated by CRTC etc

@thegistofitis @jpuopolo Dairy hits those tariff % only after an agreed total $ import amount at no tariff is triggered. It was baked into Trump's 2018 USMCA renegotiation. There are rules about dairy in there. Total imports never hit the trigger so far. Other foods are banned due to hormones etc.

@thegistofitis @jpuopolo Countries protect telecom & local ownership - the US has Buy American requirements, and US gov and military mandate equipment country. CDA does too. About ripoffs - the big ripoff is China sucking global manufacturing from all the west with CHN gov subsidized industry. That's it.

@thegistofitis @jpuopolo Look, CDA sells the US unprocessed goods (oil, nat gas, electricity, minerals, lumber), and the US sells us high value products (GM, Ford, Apple, HP, Microsoft, Costco, Amazon, Home Depot, Boeing...) US has always had the better value with CDA-US trade. Frankly, it holds us back.

@jbmllr @TheEconomist The middle power idea is a global trade alignment, not a new hegemony. Carney is trying it because the others are not. I recall Brazil pegged as a "rising power" over 30 years ago. Still waiting. It's not a threat to US or China, just a different path with lower dependence.

@thegistofitis @jpuopolo Mulroney negotiated NAFTA in 92, dropping tariffs on the vast majority of goods. Yes there are carve-outs, both side protecting some things. It's valid that our military was underfunded with the US umbrella. Carney is turning that around. But our $ value tariffs are small now.

@gator_gum When someone does the right thing, either acknowledge it or quietly let it be. Later, when he does the wrong thing, jump on that. Just not this one. And for sure on PM Carney's condolence posts, too many of those responses were just vile.

@N_Schmid @EVCurveFuturist I guess anything can be engineered. I hope everyone agrees that this would be just the rich guy's special occasional driver - and stick with your other cars for everyday driving (like guys today with road Ferraris and McLarens)

@CheriDiNovo It'll take a while. Today, Telesat's primary sats are classical big ones up in GEO. The new plan is for a bunch of launches into LEO, which is expected to begin in 2027. But it's funded. Meanwhile EU's LEO secure version is called IRIS2, and it launches after 2029

@N_Schmid @EVCurveFuturist The blown fans only work with a fairly smooth even road, due to the road clearance of the skirts that create the undercar vacuum area. So - just for track, not real roads. Besides, those big fans blowing backwards are non-starters in traffic.
