What's happening to Twitter is not the same as what happened to MySpace, LiveJournal, Tumblr, or other faded sites. People gradually moved from those sites on their own accord to better options. What's happening to Twitter is a controlled demolition.

This is a catch and kill of history, meant to alter the present in order to control the future. Hang on to the archives. Not everything that's destroyed naturally gets built again; there's no guarantee of renewal. Sometimes the powerful want things -- and people -- to disappear.

This is horrifying. The Iranian parliament votes overwhelmingly (227-63) to execute the 15,000 protesters they already arrested. These were peaceful protestors simply seeking the right to basic justice and autonomy. Unacceptable and barbaric. newsweek.com/iran-votes-exe…
