This is why retention teams should watch behavior, not just cancellation dates. By the time someone clicks “cancel,” you may already be weeks late.
Your churn date is a lie. Users cancel the day their card gets charged. The real exit happened weeks earlier. In one audit, most hadn't logged in since day 3. The charge didn't cause the churn. It just reminded them to leave.
