My favorite Mozart theme, as it develops throughout the first movement of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 20, K. 466. My first impression of it was: “an unstable universe completely out of balance.” I cut together all appearances of this theme throughout the movement and paired them with short descriptions that will help you follow the theme’s transformations. Enjoy 😊

Just want to point out that it's not really about pure free market vs. pure socialism. Look at Singapore and to a lesser extent, China, and ask yourself why they can deliver cheaper healthcare, education and housing. What actually matters is HOW the state intervenes. Both intervene on the supply side but maintain forced individual responsibility/savings, and competitive elements to optimize for affordability which produces better outcomes per dollar. By contrast, in France and the US, when the government intervenes they tend to restrict supply and subsidize demand which is the WORST of both worlds. > USA spends 18% of GDP on healthcare > France spends 11.5% > Singapore spends only 4.5% while achieving higher life expectancy than the other two In Singapore, market signals are preserved because: a) individuals bear meaningful costs / use their own (forced) savings (Medisave, CPF) b) delivery involves private contractors and competing providers c) resale and private markets clear at market prices d) subsidies are targeted rather than the open-ended demand boosters in the West that inflate prices e) fraud punished severely And even though China has more government control of land, capital, and key sectors (which creates distortions), they still cultivate market signals in production and allocation which brings their healthcare spending to 6% of GDP

My post about France went viral. Thousands of likes. Many Americans told me: "Democrats aren't socialists. America will never be France." I want to answer that seriously, step by step. Start with a simple observation. Look at what has gotten cheaper in America over the last 25

@mattmireles @Monumental_Labs @mspringut Those old aesthetics not only are but look cheap in a modern context. Use new technology for new aesthetics.

@Dee_Floki It seems somewhat perverse to me to adopt a brutalist attitude towards materials, but then use them decoratively. Not only the materials but also the form should follow function.

@pmarca A bad imitation where one would ideally like to see an extrapolation.

@pmarca This is like find your EQ in earbud apps. You get dragged into the most ridiculous distortions of sound by chasing high stimulation.

@zarathustra5150 Modern classical music is the opposite of this: usually highly complex, but endlessly rewarding if you’re willing to bear the learning curve.
