Some initial impressions of @CityofVancouver’s pedestrianized Gastown pilot. 1. In the car-free areas that buttress the zone on each end it’s definitely quieter without vehicle traffic and more pleasant to linger, grab a seat, and people-watch.

The other day someone expressed skepticism when I made that $2000/month claim, so I crunched the numbers. On July 20, there were 243 newly posted rental listings on Craigslist for Metro Van. Just 11% were under $2,000 a month. On Liv.Rent, 9%. On Zillow, 7%.
