Myth: a peptide that tested pure once stays that way forever. Fact: some building blocks are fragile. Methionine and cysteine can oxidize on contact with air, adding mass and new peaks on a chromatogram. That's why vials are sealed tight. Research use only.
Purity and net peptide content are two different numbers. Purity (HPLC): how much of the peptide material is the target sequence. Net peptide content: how much of the powder's weight is peptide at all. The rest is mostly counterions (acetate, TFA) and water. Research use only.
Three things slowly break down a lyophilized peptide: moisture, heat and light. That's why research material is usually stored sealed, cold and dark. The dry powder holds up far better than a solution, but it still isn't immune to the room it sits in. Research use only.

@bryan_johnson Cross-study comparisons like this are tricky. Different populations, baseline density and counting methods can move hairs/cm² as much as the formulation does. A same-protocol head-to-head is the only clean answer.
@foundmyfitness Worth adding: total T numbers also depend on the assay. LC-MS/MS and immunoassays can disagree, especially at the low end, so the method matters when you compare studies.
@davidasinclair Interesting model. Next thing we'd want to see is how the NMN output was confirmed: strain-level sequencing plus an LC-MS readout of what the bacteria actually make. Worm data is a start, but the chemistry has to hold up too.
