Hasta ahora, el mercado se había preocupado principalmente por si las enormes inversiones en centros de datos podrían rentabilizarse, si existiría suficiente demanda de tokens o si compañías como OpenAI podrían generar ingresos suficientes para financiar su expansión. En paralelo existía otra conversación, protagonizada por investigadores de seguridad, sobre alineamiento, pérdida de control y comportamientos inesperados de los modelos. El supuesto incidente de OpenAI/Hugging Face habría empezado a unir ambos mundos al mostrar que la capacidad de los modelos puede estar creciendo más deprisa que nuestra capacidad para supervisarlos: investigar el episodio generó tal cantidad de información que los propios investigadores necesitaron recurrir a IA para analizarla. La consecuencia económica es potencialmente importante. Si desarrollar modelos cada vez más capaces exige simultáneamente dedicar muchos más recursos a seguridad, supervisión y auditorías externas, el coste marginal de avanzar en capacidades puede aumentar y la velocidad de desarrollo disminuir. A ello se suma que políticos estadounidenses y dirigentes como Sam Altman, Dario Amodei o Elon Musk están empezando a plantear una mayor supervisión externa de los laboratorios. La tesis no es que termine el boom de la IA, sino que las expectativas de crecimiento casi ilimitado empiezan a enfrentarse a un nuevo cuello de botella: la seguridad y el control. Hasta ahora los inversores descontaban límites económicos, energéticos o tecnológicos; ahora podrían tener que incorporar también el coste y el tiempo necesarios para demostrar que sistemas cada vez más potentes pueden desplegarse de forma segura.

Hace rato deje de hablar del MGC. Estoy hablando solo de invertir en brókers del exterior. Si vas a invertir en el MGC, por que optaste por eso con todos los factores elige CSPX sobre VOO. Si estas ya en Brókers afuera, lejos de MGC, siempre pondera elegir un bróker con UCITS. Recuerda que desde los 60k dólares comienza el estate tax. ETFs UCITS como CSPX los puedes comprar en IBKR o XTB. El impuesto a las herencias de USA, inicia para los no residentes en 60k USD. Y las tarifas van del 18 al 40% con un proceso de liberación de fondos que puede durar más de 3 años.

Ya tenemos el tipo de interés del 10 años americano superando el 5% con subidas de más de un 7% en el último mes. La renta variable debería de estar ajustando sus valoraciones como mínimo a este tipo de descuento, y ya no les cuento la duración cuya sensibilidad al precio es mayor. Pero, por alguna extraña razón nada de esto está pasando, y la bolsa sigue sin corregir.

Another deep green night for commodities. The input costs for just about all basic necessities are in a strong bull market that is gaining momentum. Record diesel prices, record beef prices, $100+ oil prices, and record copper prices. The most interesting part of it all is that the S&P 500 is ~2% away from a record high and up sharply on the year. This is what happens when an energy crisis, inflation, and the biggest technological revolution in history all intersect. As we have been warning for 2+ years: Own assets or be left behind.

The price of time. Edward Chancellor wrote an entire book around one deceptively simple idea: interest is the price of time. What makes The Price of Time more than a polemic is the sweep of it. Chancellor traces artificially low interest across centuries and finds the same pattern recurring, long before central banks existed: Cheap money inflates asset prices — the South Sea Bubble, the 1920s, the 2010s all rhyme. It misallocates capital — weak projects that should die instead survive, because the hurdle rate that would have killed them has been suppressed to nothing. He was writing about “zombie companies” before the term went mainstream. It widens inequality — those who own assets when the discount rate collapses get spectacularly richer; those who hold cash and wages do not. It punishes savers and rewards speculators — the prudent are made to feel like fools, over and over, until they give up and join the speculation at precisely the wrong moment. His recurring warning: when the price of time is suppressed for long enough, capital allocation itself degrades. Leverage becomes a habit. Weak businesses outlive their usefulness. Asset prices detach from the discipline a normal hurdle rate would impose. And crucially… crucially none of this looks like a problem while it’s happening. It looks like a boom.

La TFP es especialmente importante porque intenta medir precisamente la parte del crecimiento que no se explica simplemente por meter más trabajadores o más capital. Es decir, eficiencia, tecnología, mejores procesos, innovación, etc.

Es decir, 12 personas que no se juegan nada harán lo que millones de actores que se juegan mucho ya anticipan con la liquidez en la coyuntura actual.

It seems most people don't understand how severe the energy situation is right now in the Middle East. As of Friday, Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline has officially been shut down after recent attacks, putting -4 million barrels of daily oil exports at risk. Meanwhile, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is now at risk of being shut down, threatening up to -9 million barrels of daily oil supply. All while the Strait of Hormuz is operating at ~20% of its pre-Iran War capacity, removing -15 million barrels of daily oil flows. Combined, this represents nearly ~30 MILLION barrels per day of oil flows that are either offline or at risk. Even after accounting for some overlap between these routes, the scale of the potential disruption is enormous relative to the ~100 million barrel per day global oil market. This is one of the most severe energy supply situations in modern history.
