Made an interaction system for my game. Of course, it still needs some artistic touch, but the logic is there.
It can grant or activate abilities, give items or attributes, apply effects, and much more. Completely data-driven.

There is a good programming principle stated here: Don’t write functions for code one can write inline as a simple expression using well-known operations. It’s much easier to read code that uses a small number of common primitives than to remember 1000’s of helper functions.

First thing I added - adjusted aim controls🎯
Unreal isn’t really built for this type of aim, so I had to improvise. Not hard, just a bit of an ugly workaround😅
The game’s built on top of the Lyra project - a nice starting point, though it has its caveats.

I don’t believe AI should replace human artists - it lacks soul and fine detail.
I won’t use AI art in my game, but until I can hire pros, it’s perfect for sketching ideas and gathering feedback.

I only started recently, so I don't have many things done.
But I'll share some small details whenever there are any.
Also, there are a bunch of devlogs there, so I'm thinking of mixing my posts with some tech details too. Like interesting stuff I learned or quick tips or smth.
First, let me tell you what kind of game it will (hopefully) be. It'll be a story-driven sidescroller shooter with RPG elements. I also hope I'll be able to put in a few other genres as minigames or for some small locations, like they did in Nier Automata.
