This weekend I turned five pens. These are all headed to a RenFaire in Oklahoma, but there are more hand-turned pens available at builtbybull.com

You can also find the same pens on my Etsy store (etsy.com/shop/BuiltByBu…). I do get to keep more money if people buy directly from me instead of through Etsy, but a sale is a sale. Anyway, take a look if you’re so inclined, and please spread the word.

I don’t post on here very often anymore, so many of you may not know that in the past year and more I’ve taken up the hobby of hand-turning wooden pens. Well, today, it officially graduates from hobby to side hustle. I’m launching my new store at builtbybull.com.

@mikeduncan This looks very much like you're researching a book you're writing on the Crisis of the 3rd Century, and I am Here. For. It.

We help patients connect with mental health care providers, which is a mission that I'm passionate about. Plus, the work looks interesting.

So, I've been sitting on this news for about two weeks, mostly because I was afraid of jinxing it, but tomorrow I start a new job! I'm very excited (and relieved). I'll be a Senior Software Engineer with Octave Health Care (findoctave.com for some reason).

And now I have covid, too. :( Symptoms are mild to medium so far, but 0 out of 5 stars, would not recommend.

After 7 great years at Bitsbox, sadly, my job is being eliminated. Starting Nov. 1, I'm looking for a new job. Senior Software Dev with 20+ years of experience. If anyone knows of good opportunities, please let me know.

This week both #dearhankandjohn and #mbambam answered the same question about trail mix and I swear for a moment I questioned my sanity. #podcast #synchronicity

I watched Beetlejuice tonight for probably the first time in like 20 years. It held up pretty well.

Westvleteren 12. According to some, it’s the best beer in the world. I don’t have a wide enough experience to say for sure, but it is really dammed good. Thanks for my birthday present Brent.

I’m on my back porch working and this rabbit is chilling out in the yard. Seriously relaxed.

I loved "Only Murders In the Building". Steve Martin and Martin Short. Very funny, and the seventh episode was a masterclass in letting a restriction lead to more creativity.

Friday night is for assembling IKEA furniture apparently. After two years of working from home, I finally decided to stop working from my kitchen table and set up a dedicated space. I forgot how nice the big monitor is.

My company just launched a Kickstarter for a new game that teaches kids to code. I'm super proud of the work we've done. Please back if you can, and share widely. #kidswhocode #code #bluprint #bitsbox kickstarter.com/projects/bitsb…

Dune is one of my favorite books of all time. I've read it probably at least a dozen time (I've honestly lost track at this point). I was very happy with the movie. Not perfect, but closer than any cinematic attempt I've seen thus far.

Three fast, three Fauci. For those of us immunocompromised we can now get a booster. I remember in March I was ready to drive two hours through an ice storm to get a shot. Today I logged on at 9 and scheduled an appointment for noon.
