Troy is being fed some non-public info here, but notice that the entire strategy depends on a jump in US produced 4680 availability. We know that 4680 offers no efficiency advantage and that Tesla’s in-house efforts are a bust. Where will these cells come from? Kansas?
The current Model 3 Standard Range RWD costs $39,000 but doesn't qualify for the $7,500 tax credit because it uses batteries from China. The new Model 3 Hatchback with 4680 cells will qualify. That drops the price to $31,500. Also, Tesla gets a $45 per kWh tax credit for 4680…

I’ve never seen a carmaker struggle so hard with renewing its old models. Toyota’s Corolla is in its 12th generation. BMW’s 3 Series is in its 7th. $TSLA can’t even get a refresh done, let alone a full model change. And that’s why they’ll go bankrupt. 💀 💀
