Maybe a hot take. I don't know. I've been unintentionally coming across the concept of women in the early church a lot lately in my study of patience. I guess I always knew, but I didn't fully think about the fact that the church has always been female heavy. Even in the early church, women came to faith in much greater droves than men. Churches have always had more women in them than men. And I think I've heard of this "epidemic" of men not being as involved in church, or not attending church as much, as something new, and it's not. I've heard pastors talk about the problem of engaging men, and how we need to make the church more masculine, so that men will feel more welcome. But it's been a problem from the beginning. From my research, the core issue isn't women, but that the theology that where we are weak, God is strong. We are to rejoice in our weakness, boast in our weakness, because his grace is sufficient. I think women are just generally more aware of their weakness, and ready to admit them. They're hyper vigilant about their vulnerabilities. They're drawn to Christ because they want God's strength. I think men have trouble showing their weakness, or maybe even seeing their weakness as a good thing for their faith. In raising our sons, we struggle to teach them this. They don't want God, they want their strength. And I have no problem with strong men. But also, the strongest men I know are strong because of Christ, and the ones who are strong because of their "masculinity" give off the sense that they're insecure so they have to strut. But I've come to believe more and more that the issue of men not being as involved in the church is similar to the rich young ruler struggling to give it all up for Christ. It's hard for those who are rich to see the value in being poor. It's hard for those who are strong to see the value in weakness. It's hard for those in power to see the value of humility. It's hard for men to understand what it means to be the bride of Christ. I don't think men who bring their weakness to God are pansies. They are the strongest men I know. They have found true strength. Anyway, I think all these "masculinity" and "strong men" events to try to attract men to the church is kinda like using prosperity gospel to attract rich people to church. Sure, you'll get the numbers, but you'll have to leave the powerful depth of theology of grace behind.

@Joel7Richardson In your view, what does Jesus mean when he tells us to pray “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”? And what does he mean in Luke 11 and Matthew 12 when he says that if he drives out demons by the Spirit that the kingdom “has come upon you”?

This is giving pointing out the speck in your brother’s eye while ignoring the log in your own. @EricVolz isn’t the main issue actual SA? If you are acting in good faith, guideposts or a like organization need to be mutually agreed upon and brought in to investigate logs/specks
