I’m pretty damn good with money. I still follow 90% of his principles. The older I get the more I realize consistency beats over optimizing. Every time.

I’m planning to resign from my job on my 50th birthday (in 5 years). This was supposed to happen sooner but our third child in 2021 was actually our 3rd and 4th.

I work at Google and we had around 6% of the company wake up to find they no longer had a job. I got lucky. A few coworkers didn’t. Count your blessings.

Net worth 1 year ago (minus home) was $1.1m. Today it’s at $950k. That’s with a year of contributions not even offsetting losses from the market.

It’s not always about the numbers. Play the long game by paying off your debt, taking risk off the table and investing as much of your income as possible. This approach works for 99% of the population.

To that same person, it's more risky to invest speculatively. If you don't know (or even if you do) pick one of those target retirement funds and dump all of your retirement money in there.
