The bike (@ternbicycles Vektron) has paid for itself in many ways...more exercise, more fresh air, a renewed sense of connection to my city, savings on gas/vehicle wear and tear...and with the LRT return uncertain, a commute that is dependable and enjoyable.
Before working at the hospital, most of my commutes were by bike. A new job at @uOttawa was the catalyst to purchasing an ebike. 900 km later I've recaptured the joy of bike commuting even when that commute is 25 km one way.

@FBorgal @Toon_Dreessen I've done NYC many times and I would suggest waiting til kids don't need a stroller/to be carried. Sadly a lot of subway stations are not accessible 😑 was great with a 4/5 yr old though!

@ladybugspicnic @FBorgal A longtail is the plan! I love the bakfiets but storage space is an issue. Another limitation to using our bikes more is lack of safe infrastructure connecting us to those places (grocery, library, etc). There are ways around, but I'd love a route that directly connects to /1
@FBorgal @ladybugspicnic I changed one of our savings account labels from "new car" to "cargo bike" 😆 it's probably a year or so away. Once one of our two vehicles konks out we plan to replace it with a cargo bike!
