The @WMO Hurricane Committee has retired #Otis and #Dora from the list of eastern Pacific names, replacing them with #Otilio and #Debora. Note that no names were retired from the Atlantic basin list--the first time since 2014.

WPC and the @NHC_Atlantic are experimenting with maintaining Cone Graphics and Key Messages for inland tropical systems that still pose a threat of inland flooding from excessive rainfall. Today was the first day we put this experiment to the test for Post-tropical Cyclone Ian.

9/28 11am EDT: Eyewall of #Ian moving onshore! Catastrophic storm surge along with destructive waves are expected along the southwest Florida coast from Englewood to Bonita Beach, including Charlotte Harbor. Residents should urgently follow evacuation orders in effect.
