Improving Cancer care through Innovation, research & access to treatment Urology & Urological Oncology I

Your urologist said "plasma vaporization" and handed you a consent form. Here's what it means: a thin scope goes through your natural urinary passage, no incision, and an electrode turns the obstructing prostate tissue into vapor to reopen the channel.
Not every urology site can run what your protocol requires. At Promed Research Center, it's already on-site: cystoscopy, urodynamics, image-guided biopsy, fluoroscopy, PK/PD processing, ECG, investigational product administration.
Urologic oncology is a long name for clear work.
We treat cancers of the bladder, prostate, kidney, ureter and testicles.
You don't have to choose between standard care and investigational options. Taking part is always voluntary.
Your sample does not simply go into a fridge.
From the moment it arrives at Promed, it moves through a precise, documented chain of conditions matched to your protocol: ultra-cold, frozen, refrigerated, or controlled ambient, continuously monitored.
One opening in a schedule carries more weight than it appears to.
An open appointment block isn't where a process ends. At a research site, it's where long-term follow-up begins, written into the protocol from day one.
Every role filled. Every patient covered.
Seven distinct roles at Promed, all focused on Urology and Uro-Oncology research: investigators, coordinators, regulatory specialists, data entry, ultrasound techs, patient care assistants. None spread thin across unrelated specialties.
Some instruments do not search. They confirm what thorough preparation already suspected.
Accurate diagnosis begins long before the scope is ever used. Preparation is the diagnostic act. The tool simply confirms what rigour has built.
Before any procedure is on the table, your urologist has tools to see inside your urinary tract. A uroflow test, a post-void bladder ultrasound, and a flexible cystoscopy give real answers in one in-house visit. Ask which are right for you.
Most patients never see the page that proves their investigational product was kept safe between visits.
Our storage equipment logs the temperature every 5 minutes. Not hourly. Overnight, across weekends, continuously. A clean log is proof of care.
A credential printed on a wall can look ornamental until you understand it. Board certification means a physician met independently verified standards, examined and earned, not self-declared. Every visit sits on that foundation.
Most people who see blood in their urine once wait weeks to mention it, especially if it clears up on its own. One episode is reason enough to get checked. It can be a kidney stone or a UTI, or something more serious. A urologist can find the difference.
There is a line our team says before almost every trial conversation. Something like: "The protocol protecting you was reviewed and approved before we ever asked you to consider it."
You were never being asked to trade your safety for someone else's data.
Over 70% of cancer patients say no one ever told them a clinical trial was an option.
Trials are not a last resort, and many cover your care at no cost. You are allowed to ask at your very first visit. Let's talk about it.
RTGel shows up in your study paperwork before anyone explains it. It's a reverse thermal gel: delivered as a liquid, it thickens at body temperature to hold mitomycin in sustained contact with the tissue. In the UGN-104 study, it's what makes a kidney-sparing approach possible.
A bladder tumor diagnosis usually arrives with a treatment menu attached, and most patients are asked to choose fast. You're allowed to ask twice. You're allowed to want a second opinion before you commit. When you're ready, our team is here to talk it through.
Your care plan says "intravesical therapy recommended," and the words land before anyone explains them.
It means treatment placed directly inside the bladder, so it works locally instead of traveling through your whole body first.
Let's talk about it.
Two patients. Same 6mm kidney stone. Two different treatments, and both doctors were right.
Size isn't the only factor. Density, location in the kidney, and your kidney function all shape the choice. You're allowed to ask which ones your doctor weighed.
For years I treated kidney patients the way I was trained: control the blood pressure, protect the organ.
Then a patient with textbook readings had kidney function quietly declining. The cuff told one story. The lab work told another.
Most patients think a clinical trial is a backup plan. The ones who have been through it usually wish they had asked about it sooner. A cancer trial is often one of the earliest, most informed conversations you get to have.
