Flip side to this is the fact that excellence carries over in life. Similar to discipline. The more often you practice doing things at a higher standard, the easier it becomes to do more things at an excellent level. Regardless of importance, it becomes your normal.

By anabolic I mean it's actually useful for developing muscle. It requires an absurd amount of muscular tension required every time you roll. Across your entire body. There's a reason every high level grappler is jacked, and it's not because they do body part splits to lift.

There are few, if any, sports you can train for the entirety of your life that offer the blend of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Especially for physical development, it's both tremendous conditioning but also stupidly anabolic.

Most guys think cardio means suffering through WODs that leave you crippled for 3 days. Meanwhile, the year-round leanest guys average 12,000 steps daily. Your body thrives on walking for hours. Not attempting to induce heart attacks for 30 minutes.

People overrate the benefit of jacking their heart rate up in training and think it's the most effective. Then underrate the benefit of keeping it low and just getting lots of movement in. One gives the feeling of work being done. The other gives the result.
