So why might any military given the task of providing "for the military defence of the State from armed aggression" or participation "in multi-national peace support, crisis management and humanitarian relief operations" need a system such as Javelin? Lets begin.
Why would the Irish army need to train in Javelin, a missile designed to fight tanks? We've never fired a Javelin in anger against anyone. And to the best of my knowledge, we've never fought tanks on any international deployment.
