Formaldehyde is a target of fear-mongering about vaccines. 12,000 micrograms (ug) of formaldehyde in a pear. A baby produces 1,100 ug daily. Adults? 1.5 ounces daily. A vaccine? Less than 100 ug. You produce 425,000X MORE formaldehyde EVERY DAY than what might be in a vaccine.

As a pediatric immunologist, I get this question all the time “what did kids do before vaccines?” They died … by the millions. Parents in remote areas of the World walk days to vaccinate kids. Anti-VAxers display ignorance + fear + immense privilege and put us all at risk.

I had genuinely never seen a child with measles in my paediatrics career until 2 weeks ago and I’ve seen multiple every day since. Not a single one in a child who had their MMR (even just first dose if not old enough for their preschool booster yet). Vaccinate your children!

When I really think about it, it’s wild that we have volunteer EMTs. Like it’s just this cute little side thing I did where I sometimes had my neighbors die under my hands, cool cool cool. It’s definitely ok to underfund that work! /s
