So @Ariat had an ad on MTV during Drag Race that began with "when you think WORK, you think BOOTS." And now I can't stop wondering if Ariat has a genius in marketing or if that was just REALLY coincidental timing.
I've always been a very fast writer. I send MUCH longer emails and messages than others. It drives people nuts. Many coworkers have complained. I wondered, is this autism or something? Nope. I just joined /r/Buddhism and can now say for sure: it's, uh, Buddhism, apparently.
So, uh, I haven't used Twitter as much as I used to, but just posting a bit recently... ... looks like @elonmusk fired all the people that were keeping the place from being overrun with porn spam bots, huh?

genuinely i think the main things i’ve done to become more likeable were 1) watching a lot of stand-up comedy growing up (to learn storytelling and comedic timing) 2) learning how to accept all of my emotions (you learn how to accept other people’s emotions as a bonus)

@bhsharp Yeah this is what I do now. Counter-intuitively, it feels more "distant" to me, since it's even less related than relating it to oneself, but apparently it feels less distant because it doesn't feel like projecting. Whatever floats them boats! 😅
@bhsharp I actually find it much easier to "resonate" positive emotions 🤷♂️That's just like....a win win lol. Resonating negative emotions has always felt like "misery loves company" to me, and it's never what I want from others when I'm feeling shit, so I just don't get it.

@bhsharp I think when people claim they "truly feel what the other person feels" what they're really saying is "they're recalling the feelings they had in a similar situation and re-living them in the moment". For me, I "recall the feelings I had in a similar situation but don't relive"

@bhsharp Yes! Sometimes when I’m the distressed person, the effort to project into my model of the other person (to relate to them and make the connection implied) feels like too much work.
@bhsharp My wife, who is Japanese, has commented many times that American conversations are like playing catch with personal experiences. Each person wants a turn to throw the ball. In Japanese the shape of casual conversation is more focused on the initial speaker's experience.
