The Conservatives have lost the confidence of the public and the markets - it will take more than a screeching u-turn to undo the damage for millions of homeowners. The Conservatives should recall Parliament and sort out this mess for the good of the country.

This is nonsense. To make that stamp duty saving you'd need to be buying a £500,000+ property. With 10% deposit, cheapest fix mortgage would cost £2,400/mth (£28,000/yr). How can someone on £30k afford that I am asking treasury to remove.

Let’s be clear, the only reason Kwarteng has shelved plans to cut taxes for the wealthiest is because of the political backlash. He still thinks it is the right idea and went ahead with it despite the cost of living crisis. The Chancellor is woefully out of touch and must go.

They wanted to deprive poor kids of school meals. They wanted to give rich kids the top A-level grades. They wanted to cut civil servants pay in the poorest areas. They wanted to give £55K tax cuts to millionaires. Every U-Turn they make just shows they'd hurt you if they could.
