Quite funny that even after all this time DHH just doesn’t get it. Abstractions are the only thing that’s left. Forcing LLMs through narrow waists is the entire name of the game.

@matt_levine you should check out the current scandal(s) engulfing Juventus and Serie A… it’s got your favorite, people explaining their crimes on wiretapped phone calls

@bennpeifert That said, I’d be interested in potentially pairing with this person. I have taught a couple people how to code in Python in the past. My finance knowledge is very basic though, and I would approach it as an opportunity for mutual learning. Feel free to DM.

@bennpeifert Hard to answer this without knowing this persons current ability level. But I will say, as someone who analyzes code for a living, a rule with barely any exceptions is “complicated and intricate Python code is bad code”.

@Stillberto For reference, most models have Manchester city averaging ~2 xG per game in the EPL. Not sure what your point is here

@BenedictTown @santana_abraxas @ByYourLogic Lotta valid critiques of lightning, this isn’t even close to one of them. Pretty smart to provide redundancy on the part most likely to fail, and they already needed a “processor” for data transfer and security anyway

@brfidler @yashalevine I’m sure yasha would listen to you if the topic was distributed systems, maybe you should listen to yasha on this topic?

@MattBruenig (this is “cryptography” as in “encryption” not as in “crypto day traders should know this one money making trick”)

@MattBruenig Cryptographic signing using public/private key pairs (and sometimes symmetric keys) is used all the time in the tech world to establish provenance... things like yubikeys/keybase are making it much more accessible to less/non technical folks but still pretty esoteric

@yungchomsky @am_pnw @GayWithMyFather @mjrieley @PrettyBadLefty Open to learning if there is some basis I’m missing but it’s hard to find police abolition in coherent political philosophies because it is often argued from a point of utopian idealism that lacks a moral and logical foundation

@yungchomsky @am_pnw @GayWithMyFather @mjrieley @PrettyBadLefty Also hard to see the logical and philosophical coherence to that info graphic... can’t we require body cams, encourage de-escalation training, and simultaneously take away their sidearms and cut budgets in half?

@FiloSottile Would love to help with coding/testing/whatever is needed. I’ve written some code that does something similar with a combo of a pkcs library and just passing raw commands to a yubihsm, was the biggest pain to get something simple working and was completely un-portable
